Keebler Opera Cremes

Opera Cremes were sandwich cookies. That may not sound like anything special, but they were special. One package of Opera Cremes came with two kinds of cookie: chocolate and vanilla. What made them so good was that the creme filling was lemon.

I always gravitated toward the chocolate ones. Chocolate sandwich cookies with lemon creme filling are incredible. It's just such a delicious combination. I don't know why they were discontinued or why they haven't been resurrected. All I know is I would love to see them return to the store shelves. I would definitely be buying them.

I've never heard of these either, but I LOVE lemon cream... I'd have to try it with chocolate, but I know I'd love the vanilla.

I've heard of these but they're not something I would eat. I dislike lemon flavored anything and I don't like fruit flavors mixed with chocolate flavors. So, I'll take your word for it that they're delicious. :-)

These were one of my very favorite cookies as a child! I remember them well, and wish they would return as well.

Here in Cincinnati you could get Keeblers Opera Creme cookies loose at our local Findlay Market. As a child I would always buy the chocalate ones. Or you could buy them in the pink double bag which had vanilla and chocolate. Ummm! Ummm! That lemon filling was the best ever. I called Keebler years ago to beg for them to be produced again. They said they were too expensive to make. Can you say GRINCHS instead of Elves.

These were the cookies of my childhood. I loved the chocolate ones. I would eat all of them and leave the others for my mother. And then I started mixing the two flavors on each cookies. I still crave the taste of opera cremes at 52 years old. I have never found cookies that ever came close to that taste.

I too wish this cookie would come back. I got on line to see if anyone sold them, was hoping maybe that my store had just stopped carrying them.
